Apologies, there is missing piece of info on the written instructions for the mitten decreases. The first line should read K1 K2tbl K 11 (14, 17), K2tog K1, repeat. 32 (38, 44) sts.
Then it continues
K1 K2tbl K 9 (12, 15), K2tog K1, repeat. 28 (34, 40) sts, decreasing by 4 sts every row.
