The Samantha Top is a halter neck top, knitted seamlessly from the top down using stockinette stitch. This is a revised version of the top, adding more positive ease, options for bust shaping and a-line increases. It includes a written pattern, schematics and video tutorial.

It begins with a provisional cast on. The back and front sections are worked separately until reaching the armholes, incorporating side I-cords at the start and end of each row. After this, additional stitches are cast on using the I-cord cast-on method. The pieces are then joined, and the body is knitted in the round. There is also an option to add bust darts for optimal bust fit by incorporating shadow short rows. The body can be knitted straight without any increases or in an A-line shape with lifted increases for a more drapey version.

To finish the garment, there is the option of either a double-folded hem for a sturdy, boxy look, or a regular cast-off for a drapier look. If choosing the folded hem, it is recommended to knit the body without increases.

The top edges of both the front and back panels are finished with an I-cord, which transitions into the straps using the Kitchener stitch. Straps can be attached or knit as loose I-cords for tying together.

Gauge
In stockinette stitch using 4 mm needles: 20 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 in.
The gauge swatch is wet blocked and measured laying flat. If you are unable to meet gauge, adjust your needle size accordingly.
