Drive the cold winter away with this cosy cowl in chunky wool.

Featuring a flame pattern to recall the bonfires of ancient winter festivals, the cowl uses the amazing moebius cast-on technique which can seem strange at first but proves an oddly addictive knitting option.

The moebius twist makes the cowl sit beautifully round your neck – or additionally as a hood if you make the larger version. The technique also means that the flames grow towards both edges of the cowl whatever way you wear it.

The Moebius Cast-on
You can find a video of the Moebius cast-on by Cat Bordhi here and blog tutorials by me here and here.
I recommend practising the moebius cast on and a few rounds of knitting to get the feel of the technique before embarking on a pattern for the first time.
