Sammal Skirt
The skirt is knitted top down, first the waistband is knitted and then the skirt starting with stockinette stitch. Increases are made on top part of the skirt. After the stockinette stitch part, a lateral braid is knitted. Then the stitch pattern will be worked for 15 cm. The length and the circumference of the skirt are easily modifiable according to your own preferences.
Sizes:
XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
Skirt measures:
Waist: 60 (65, 75, 85, 95) (105, 115, 120, 125) cm, positive ease 0 cm
Hips circumference: 100 (110, 120, 130, 140) (150, 160, 170, 180) cm including 15-20 cm of positive ease.
Length from underneath the waistband (modifiable): 44 (45, 46, 47, 48) (50, 52, 53, 55) cm
Yarn:
DK weight yarn 520 (575, 640, 710, 780) (870, 970, 1050, 1150) m.
Sample is knitted with West Yorkshire Spinners The Croft DK, 100% Shetland wool, colourway Graven 1018. You can substitute the yarn with any DK weight yarn, for example Sandnes Garn Double Sunday, Laine x Novita DK, Fonty Ambiance or Drops Karisma.
Needles:
4 mm and 3 mm 80 cm – 100 cm circular cable needles. You’ll also need (appr. 4 mm) crochet hook to finish the lateral braid.
Gauge:
22 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm
Other supplies:
Stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle, elastic band for the waist appr. the amount of your waist circumference + 10-20 cm.
