Featuring a rolled neckline, stranded colourwork, knitted top-down and seamlessly in the round, with short or long sleeves and optional side shaping for an exaggerated A-line silhouette, this sweater is inspired by a twelfth century mosaic pavement in the Basilica of Santa Maria e San Donato on the Venetian island of Murano.

Body length from underarm for all sizes is 30.5cm (12.25in), which can be lengthened by working additional stripes of yarn B then yarn C. Allow 22m to 38m (24yd to 42yd) extra yarn per stripe ranging from size 1 to 11. One stripe adds 1.65cm/0.65in length.

Needles and Notions
4.5mm/US 7 (or size required to obtain gauge) preferred needle(s) for small, medium and large circumference knitting (eg 40cm/16in circular for top of yoke, 80cm/32in circular for body, set of DPNs or long circular for magic loop for sleeves).
Similar needles one size smaller for neck and for body/sleeve ribbing.
Stitch holders or waste yarn.
2 stitch markers.
Tapestry needle for finishing.

Gauge
18.5 sts and 24.5 rounds to 10cm/4in, after wet-blocking, over stranded colourwork pattern and stockinette worked in the round. Gauge achieved using 4.5mm (US 7) needles. Adjust needle size(s) if necessary to obtain gauge.

Measurements and Sizing
Sizes 1 to 11 to fit bust from 75cm/30in to 159cm/63.5in with 7.5-15cm/3-6in of positive ease. Refer to schematic in photos for full sizing information. Samples shown are size 3.
