San Fhoraois (Irish for ‘in the forest’)* is a classic sweater tank that offsets rustic yarn with hints of lace to evoke textures of the forest floor.

Worked seamlessly from the top down, this pattern uses the Contiguous Method of sleeve construction to work the shoulders in one piece. The result is a seamlessly sculpted, sloping shoulderline that is easy and quick to knit.

Other details include lacy ribbed edgings, a semi-scooped neckline, and elegant faux seams at shoulders and sides.

Designed for S Twist Wool, San Fhoraois suits a variety of aran weight yarns. It can be knitted in a single colourway, or with contrast edgings as shown in the photos. The pattern can also be adapted to a more unisex aesthetic by omitting the lacework, instructions for which are provided.

The pattern name is pronounced ‘san oreesh’.
