“This shawl is worked using a modified version of a traditional Shetland construction. In this case stockinette stitch replaces the typical garter stitch used in the center triangle portion of the shawl. As with the traditional method, yarn overs are worked at the beginning of every row creating visual loops, which are then picked up to work the border. Sandness is intended as a bigger cousin companion to my Norby beanie as they share the same textured pattern. Sandness is the town in Shetland in which Norby beach can be found.” − Gudrun Johnston

CONSTRUCTION
This shawl is constructed by knitting the center triangle first. The Center Triangle starts with 1 stitch. Stitches are increased by working a yarn over (YO) at the beginning of every row. Stitches are then picked up from the yarn over loops on the edges of the Triangle, and the remainder of the Shawl is worked outwards in a textured pattern.
