This little Santa Christmas can be made using up your left over double knit yarn. He is only about 4 inches/10 cm tall when sitting and is very cute. He could be a Christmas decoration or a stocking filler or you could place him amongst the branches of your Christmas tree. He would make a lovely gift. He is great fun to make and only takes about two/three hours.

There are detailed instructions of how to make him, with some photographs and tips. The pattern includes both UK and US terms. The UK terms come first and then the whole pattern is repeated with US terms, so please be aware if you print off the pattern that you should only print the pages you want so as not to waste your paper and ink.

His beard is made using loop stitch, which is much easier than it looks and I have included photos and instructions on this stitch. However, if you don’t wish to use the loop stitch, you can sew on some loops instead once you have finished making his head. Please do try though, as you may be surprised at how easy it is once you know what to do.
