Pattern Description:
My Santa Gift Basket is a great stash buster for using up left over balls of yarn because he doesn’t require a full skein of yarn.

He makes a great little basket or a seasonal home décor piece. The hat acts as a lid which can be lifted to reveal the surprises inside.

They are a perfect size for small gift giving for grand kids, co-workers, friends, teachers and more.

Use them as décor pieces for the holidays, nursery décor, kid’s room décor, desk organizers, and a hidden stash keeper for coins or rainy-day cash. Nobody will even know it’s there. If you like to give homemade candy and treats, an 8 oz Ball jar can be inserted inside the basket to hold unwrapped food items. You can probably find a jar from your kitchen to fit as well.

It occurred to me recently, that if you really wanted to: you could stuff the basket and the hat. Sew them together and create a little stuffy. This would work for any of my patterns that have a basket and a hat.

Gauge:
Gauge is not important for this project. Use hooks and materials that are suited to each other.

Materials:
Uses 2 strands of Worsted Weight yarn held together or #5 bulky weight yarn can be substituted. Some pieces require 1 strand of worsted weight yarn.

Amount:
Basket: 2 oz/56 g divided into 2 balls
Hat: 2 oz/56 g divided into 2 balls
White : 1 oz (for beard/hair)

Large Eye Needle/Yarn Needle

Optional Alternative Supplies:
Round Buttons, Puffy Paint, Novelty Buttons, Beads, Felt, Hot Glue, Blush or Colored Pencil.

Hook Size(s):
6 mm & 5 mm crochet hooks

sc 2 stitches together
3 double crochet bobble stitch
4 double crochet bobble stitch

Measurements:

Basket: 6” high x 13” around
With the hat the total height is 12”
