Santa Hat Crystal Geode
Crochet Pattern for these fun Santa Hat Crystal Geodes, just in time for Christmas!
It is an instant pdf download - not a physical item.
This lovely magical item is no sew! It can be a fun fidget toy, or pretty decoration!
This can be a great stocking stuffer too!
A great gift for kids, teachers, and rockhounds or rock collectors!
The pdf includes instructions for the geode santa hat and how to make the pom pom on top with just your fingers. There is a video available as well showing how to add beads.
You should already know how to crochet the stitches listed below before buying this pattern.
This was tested by my amazing team!
Size: 5 and a half inches tall (with pompom)
Difficulty: Easy! A beginner should be able to do this if they learn the basic stitches first.
Stitches (US) : sl, sc, inc, blo sc, mc.
Automatic download for pdf document.
This top quality pattern is 10 pages (5 if you print double sided!) and guides you along with plenty of pictures and tips.
The yarn I used: worsted weight, 4 ply.
Gauge: 17 single crochet stitches by 17 rows makes a 4x4 inch square.
Because this is a non-wearable item, you don’t need to stress too much about gauge as long as your stitches are tight enough that there are no large gaps.
Suggested Yarn
This is what I used, but don’t be afraid to do your own version!
I used worsted weight, 4ply acryllic yarn. RHSS = Red Heart Super Saver
Your choice of Red Heart Super Saver or similar yarn that matches the beads you will use.
I used
Red – RHSS “Cherry Red”
Green – RHSS “Spring Green”
White – RHSS “White”
Yardage: The hat is made of about 16 yards of red and about 12 yards of white. The inner shell is made up of 12 yards of whatever yarn color matches your beads.
You will also need:
Yarn needle
Stitch Markers (I just use a short yarn)
Beads – Specifically 9 mm barrel style pony beads – either regular or faceted – with a 4 mm hole. Each one takes about 90 to 130 beads depending on the method you choose in the pattern. I like getting colored beads, you can also use clear and let the yarn behind it give it color.
Hook Sizes: F (3.75mm)
