He sees you when you’re steeking;
He knows when you’re on gauge.
He knows if you’ve been swatching right,
So just swatch for swatching’s sake.

This clean and modern design is inspired by the “tomte”, a domestic sprite who protected the farm. With a pointed red hat and long white beard it looks a lot like a gnome
…and Santa Claus! Bring a bit of whimsy and the flair of Scandinavian style home for the holidays.

The Santa Pillow is worked in the round with the same repeated motif on back and front. The top of the pillow is finished in Kitchener stitch and the bottom is seamed together after a pillow insert is added.

Because I get a lot of the same questions about working this pattern I’ve created an FAQ.

Pattern includes colorwork charts.

The pattern now includes the rainbow version.

Please do not post project pictures with all or most of the chart in them, thanks!

Pattern requires 4 balls of the red and white and 1 ball of the oyster and coal. Some knitters have found they needed a second ball of the skin color particularly if they are cutting the color after each set of faces. Carrying it up the side will use less yarn.
