This pattern was developed with the goal of using as much as possible of a 600 yard, fingering weight, hand-dyed gradient; I purchased one 600 yard gradient cake in the “To Boldy Go” colorway from Hilori’s Magical Yarnorium to make the Sapphire shawl shown (400 yard cakes are also available). However, the pattern is also very adaptable and can easily be made larger or smaller, depending on the yardage available.

Gauge is not critical when knitting this shawl and other yarn weights could be used with good results.
