The easy drape and fun outline of this scarf are created through use of short rows with wraps and turns (photo instructions for this technique are included in the pattern). Garter stitch makes it reversible and gives the fabric bounce and stability. The shaping repeat pattern is easy to memorize, making this a great “take with you” project to pull out and work on anywhere! When finished and blocked, there is a curve to the neck edge, which allows lots of options for wearing the scarf.

Custom lengths are easy to create, as each pattern repeat adds two rows to the inner edge (neck edge) and one “leaf” to the outer edge. Scarf can be finished to any desired length. It can also be knitted at other gauges, as long as the needle and yarn are chosen to work together in creating a soft, supple, solid fabric in garter stitch; so it’s NOT essential to match gauge for this project.

Works well with tonal, space dyed yarns, solids, or self-striping yarns, and a sample is shown in the pattern of both a tonal and a striping yarn worked up.

Pattern has been test-knitted.
