Can I admit that this pattern came to be half from an idea I had in the shower and half from a dare? I woke up on a Friday with this shawl idea in my head. Worked in two triangles knit together, it would showcase busy handpainted sock yarn, of which my yarn stash overfloweth.

A few hours later, I tweeted about the idea, and how it made me itch to cast on. A designer friend dared me to not only cast on that night, but finish the sample and publish the pattern by the end of the weekend.

The result is a lightweight small shawl, perfect for tossing around your neck as a splash of color. I named it the “Saturday Shawl”, not only because I spent all of Saturday knitting it, but because it’s what I want to wear on the weekend.
