This Sauge Scarf is a part of the Wool and Nature Collection; The Cardamine Shawl and Origan Shawl are also a part of this collection. I hope you enjoy this scarf as much as I do!

I fell in love with Claire’s ‘Wool and Nature’ naturally dyed woolly yarn and artful labels as soon as I laid eyes on them. I knew I wanted to create my own version of the scarf portrayed on her yarn label. Sauge Scarf is my take on the perfect winter scarf. It is interesting to knit with the deep and cozy brioche ribbing and the interesting texture created by the slipped stitch pattern that keeps you warm as it wraps gently around your neck.

Pattern Notes:
Sauge is cast on using Long-tail Cast-on using a slightly larger needle size for fingering weight yarn to give it perfect drape and wrapping abilities. Two-color brioche is used to create the ribbing for the border. A deep brioche rib is created before transitioning into the main body section. This section is a sequence of slipped stitches using both the main and contrast color. Then the two-color brioche rib is created again to end the scarf as we began. Sauge is cast off using a stretchy bind off of your choice.

Difficulty Level: Adventurous Beginner. Skills needed are: knowledge of two-color brioche and slipped stitches.
