Cascade and Saunter Jackets
TWO JACKETS
TO BE REACTIVATED SOON
Two classic raglan jackets with fitted shawl collars. CASCADE has a collar that is shaped into the body of the jacket in a smooth blend. SAUNTER has a collar on a V-neckline that runs in a contrasting direction to the body of the jacket.
Both are designed for temperate weather in fingering weight yarn or equivalent crochet thread, using a soft honeycomb mesh stitch. This gives a lightweight breathable garment that drapes softly with minimal bulk. Can be shaped at the waist for either men or women. Can be personalised by incorporating an open lacework design using the included tutorial with fully charted sample design. Or use your favourite variegated yarn.
Choose your preferred method for creating either jacket, both (1) and (2) are provided. #sizeinclusive
(1) A prescribed pattern with row-by-row written instructions and detailed stitching charts for fifteen adult sizes. The defined gauge for this pattern suits makers with normal tension.
(2) A recipe-style tutorial that can be used to alter the pattern for your own stitch gauge, and for any adult size and proportions. Alteration can be as easy as choosing a different garment size based on your back neck measurement. Or each part of the garment may be calculated, e.g. for a wider or taller body type.
CONSTRUCTION
Proceed from the top downwards without seams, working the components onto each other. Front edges may be worked either to meet at the centre or to overlap. Body measurements may be adjusted during construction if necessary.
Working tip. To mark your place in a complex lace design as you are working it, use a ruler that moves up the page as you work each row. When working from a printout, this can be a physical ruler. When working from a digital screen, it can be a line that is drawn with the Comment feature in the Adobe PDF reader. The line is editable, i.e. you can first draw a very short straight line, then stretch it horizontally to cover the full width of the page, then move it upwards as your work progresses up the page.
