Sauron is a simple colourwork yoke sweater worn with positive ease. The low band of colourwork features eye-like shapes and short-rows are worked just below it to raise the back of the neck. The sweater is knitted top down in the round with a straight body and optional short-rows bust darts to accomodate different cup sizes. Some stripes are worked just before the hem and sleeves are picked up and knitted with decreases to slightly shape them.

The sample is knitted with a colourful handspun yarn for the yoke. Any colour changing or gradient yarn will work but you can also play around and hold different strands of yarn. Choose two contrasting light fingering yarns (or three lace weight yarns) to obtain a similar marled effect.

Yarn :
You will need two colours of sport weight yarn in the following amounts :
MC : 900 (1000 / 1100 / 1200 / 1300), 1400 (1480 / 1560 / 1650 / 1750) meters
985 (1095 / 1205 / 1315 / 1425), 1535 (1620 / 1710 / 1805 / 1915) yards
CC : 80 (80 / 100 / 120 / 140), 160 (200 / 220 / 250 / 280) meters
90 (90 / 110 / 135 / 155), 175 (220 / 240 / 275 / 310) yards

The sample is knit with De Rerum Natura Ulysse in Fusain (MC) and Blush + Bloom Fiber Co Superwash Merino DK in Fall Back (CC).
If you do not have access to a yarn that is spun with colour changes a great alternative is to hold together two strands of light fingering weight yarn in contrasting colours.

Needles :
Main Fabric : 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles with appropriate length to knit in the round and magic loop or DPNs.
Ribbing : 3 mm (US 2.5) circular needles with appropriate length to knit in the round and magic loop or DPNs.

Sauron est un yoke en jacquard simple avec de l’aisance positive. La bande de jacquard basse rappelle des motifs d’yeux et des rangs raccourcis sont tricotés juste dessous pour élever la nuque. Le pull est tricoté du haut vers le bas en rond avec un corps droit et des pinces poitrines optionnelles en rangs raccourcis pour convenir à différents bonnets. Des rayures sont créées juste avant les côtes du bas et les manches sont relevées et tricotées avec des diminutions pour les ajuster légèrement.

Le modèle est tricoté avec une laine filée main colorée pour le yoke. Tout fil multicolore ou dégradé fonctionnera mais vous pouvez aussi jouer en tenant différents brins. Choisissez deux fils constrastants de fingering fine (ou trois de dentelle) pour obtenir un effet marbré similaire.

Si vous n’avez pas accès à un fil qui est filé avec des changements de couleurs, une bonne alternative est de tenir ensemble deux brins de laine fingering fine dans des coloris constrastants.

Principales : aiguilles circulaires 3,5 mm avec la bonne longueur pour tricoter en rond et en Magic Loop ou prévoir des aiguilles double-pointes.
Côtes : aiguilles circulaires 3 mm avec la bonne longueur pour tricoter en rond.
