Hi everyone!

Welcome and thanks for taking a look at my first ever pattern!

It’s the Save Me Some Summer jumper and was conceived on a grumpy cold day in January when I was craving some summer.

I’ve written it a little differently to how most knitting patterns are written as I’ve been experimenting with how to structure patterns to be a little more friendly to people with dyslexia. It’s written in short sentences with lots of colour diagrams. There’s also little explainers along the way of techniques and ways to make this jumper fit personally to you.

It’s a 3 hoop design with asymmetrical blooming bishop sleeves. The first colour hoop finishes just above the top shoulder curve, the second colour hoop just above the waist and the last colour is on the waist and tummy. I’ve focussed on shaping and customising fit over gender so if you like it, it’s not particularly specific.

It’s thick, almost like outerwear, and does keep much of the wind out. I’ve had comments from it would be good for skiing to my Dad saying it would be good with waders.

It comes in 3 sizes:

Small 112cm at widest part of abdomen, 105cm at widest part of shoulders

Medium (approx) 118cm at widest part of abdomen, 112cm at widest part of shoulders

Large (approx) 124cm on abdomen, 120cm at widest part of shoulders

Full disclosure I’ve only knitted the small size, so the medium and large are only approximate, but if you do give it a go at the larger sizes feel free to let me know how you get on and drop me a message if you run into any snags.

It’ll need 10mm needles US 15, some stitch markers and contrasting coloured yarn or string to act as a pair of lifelines for the sleeves.

Colourwise I went for big bold intese colours Deep purple, Hot pink, Bright yellow. It’s a winter jumper but the spirit is of bright summer.

Thanks for reading! And if you give it a go I’d love to hear from you.

Also many thanks to Michelle at the loveliest yarn company for being so encouraging and supporting :)
