When you need a little something to feel like a mesmerizing mermaid, knit yourself Sawa fingerless mittens. They are very satisfying small project. Sawa mitts are named after a beautiful mermaid from polish legend. The mitts are seamless and worked in the round from palm to cuffs. They come in three sizes. About half of a skein of your favorite hand-dyed fingering or sock yarn makes a great pair.

This pattern has written and charted instructions.

Sizes:
S (M, L) 6 (7, 8)” / 16 (18, 20) cm around the palm.

Materials:
• Yarn: 1 skein Piccolo by Julie Asselin 420 yards / 4.06 ounces 384 meters / 115 grams; 80% Merino/20% Nylon or fingering weight yarn that knits up to the gauge.
The sample was knit using “Meet me by the river” colorway.
• Needles and other notions: US 1.5 (2.5mm), US 2 (2.75mm), US 2.5 (3.0mm) or size to obtain gauge circular or double pointed needles, 2 stitch markers, needle to weave in ends.

Gauge: 24 Stitches and 32 rows per 4 inches / 10 cm after blocking with US 2.5 (3.0mm) needles in Stockinette Stitch.

Skills required: Knitting and purling, knitting and purling through back loop, increases and decreases, yarn overs, tubular cast on and bind off.
