Sawtooth is inspired by sawtooth star quilts.

Yardage:
Note that yardage is an estimate and will vary by knitter.
This pattern calls for fingering weight yarn.
Main color: 180 (210) yards / 165 (192) m
Contrast color: 55 (65) yards / 50 (60) m

Gauge:
38 sts and 44 rnds over 4” (10 cm) in stranded colorwork and plain stockinette after blocking.

Needles:

  • One 16” (40 cm) circular needle US size 2 (2.75 mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge) for brim and body.
  • DPNs or longer circular needle for magic loop method in US size 2 (2.75mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge) for crown decreasing. You may need to use a smaller needle to achieve the correct gauge for the crown.
  • Additional 16” (40 cm) circular needle in size close to gauge needle for holding provisional cast on stitches when working fold over brim.

Techniques Required:
Provisional cast on, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round, chart reading, stranded colorwork, weaving in ends.
