This funny Christmas Gnome toy will decorate your Christmas tree or fireplace and will be a great addition to the New Year’s decor of your home; also you may use it as photo props, keychain for backpack or keys or for children’s games.

The head with body, nose, arms, legs, jumpsuit and Gnome’s cap are knitted in a circle. The beard and mustache are knitted by the turning rows. All details are sewn to the base.

3 stitches and 4 rows on a 1⁄3 x 1⁄3’’ (1 x 1 cm) swatch in a stockinet stitch with US 2 needles (2,75mm).
From the specified yarn and gauge, size of the Gnome toy is 6 x 2 1⁄3’’ (16 x 6 cm from bottom to top). For other yarns, the size of the finished Gnome toy may vary.

MATERIALS and TOOLS you will need to knitting Gnome:

1. You can use any suitable wool/cotton yarn with similar footage and properties. I used 4 yarn colors with a similar footage:

a. Alize Lanagold Fine yarn (51% acrylic, 49% wool) 100 grams (3.53 ounces) in 426 yards (390 meters) in one (1) strand, color 01 white;
b. Stock bobine yarn Zegna Baruffa Softly mouline (100% extrafine merino wool) 100 grams (3.53 ounces) in 383 yards (350 meters) in one (1) strand, color #520731 red mouline;
c. Kartopu Organica (100% cotton yarn) 50 grams (1,76 Oz)/ 125 meters (136 yrd), in one (1) strand; green color as a contrast yarn for Gnome’s jumpsuit.
d. Stock bobine yarn Zegna Baruffa Art. BABA MULTIFI (Merino 70% Cashmere 30%) 100 grams (3.53 ounces) in 328 yards (300 meters) in one (1) strand, color light gray;

To knit a toy, you can use all threads of different colors and the same length. Or choose the yarn in accordance with the above examples. For one Gnome toy, you will need about 0,5Oz (15 grams) of yarn;

1. Circular needles with long line (from 23.6’’ (60cm)) for round knitting, or Addi Crazy Trio needles, or double pointed needles. I used US 2 (2,75mm) size needles. Select a knitting needle size based on the specified knitting gauge and your yarn: from US 0 (1,75mm) to US 2 (3,0mm).

2. Toy stuffing (holofiber, thinsulate etc.);

3. Two buttons with a diameter of 7⁄12” (1.5 cm) or smaller.

4. Scissors; thick, thin and tapestry needle, steel crochet hook with US 8 (1.5 - 1.6 mm) size (or hook size suitable for your yarn;

5. 1 knitting marker, pins.
