Scarf Number 1
Add code SN1R25 at checkout until 23:59 November 20th 2025 to get 25% off the all new and improved 4ply version of my very first published pattern together with the addition of a DK version.
Whether you are looking to knit your first project or you simply want a pretty yet relaxing experience, Scarf Number 1 is the perfect pattern for you. The design is based on simple, alternating stockinette sections, but is elevated far beyond any traditional beginner scarf with a segment of beautiful twisted eyelet stitches and a polished iCord edge. This combination of stitches makes it a rewarding project for beginners, yet entertaining enough to keep more seasoned knitters engaged.
The pattern offers instructions for two yarn weights. The 4ply (fingering weight) version is knitted on bigger needles for a more open, lightweight fabric that is fabulous for spring and summer wear. The DK version is knitted on smaller needles for a denser, cosier fabric that is perfect for autumn. Whilst the scarf can be knit in a single colour, the small segments of the pattern make it ideal for stash busting your odds and ends from previous projects.
It is also easy to adjust the width and length, and you can even add fringing to make this a truly unique accessory. The finished result is an elegant scarf that is sure to become a beloved staple in your wardrobe for years to come.
Happy Knitting!
Yarn requirements:
4ply version 535m min of 4ply yarn.
DK version 580m min of DK yarn
If you wish to make it longer or add fringing, you will need more yarn.
Needle size:
4ply version: 5mm
DK version: 4mm
Dimensions (both versions): L: 210cm, W: 30cm
Pattern Rating: Beginner and beyond!
Sample yarn:
4ply version: Drops Flora
DK version: I used the discontinued Stylecraft Alpaca DK for the sample, but would recommend something similar like Sirdar Country Classic DK or even Drops Lima which is the DK equivalent of Drops Flora.
