“I’ll turn him into a flea, a harmless, little flea, and then I’ll put that flea in a box, and then I’ll put that box inside of another box, and then I’ll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives…I’ll smash it with a hammer! It’s brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, I tell you! Genius, I say! Or, to save on postage, I’ll just poison him with this!” - Yzma, Emperor’s New Groove

This cape is the perfect wardrobe addition to make the wearer feel powerful and ready to take down the hippest cat in the nation, all while being home in time for Kronk’s spinach puffs. Just don’t pull the wrong lever!

The Scary Beyond All Reason cape is inspired by Yzma from the Emperor’s New Groove. Worked flat in garter stich, the cape is knit up holding a worsted weight yarn together with a lace weight mohair for a soft and luxuriously warm layer. The shaping is done with wrapped stitches, increases, and decreases. There are two options for the sizing, a smaller neck circumference for a clasped closure (as shown in the sample) or a larger neck circumference for a shawl pin closurer. However, as the piece is worked from one side to the other, it would be easy to modify the number of repeats to achieve the perfect size for each wearer!
