Soar through the sky with these fabulous knee-highs! This sock pattern is pretty straightforward. It is worked from the toe up in plain Stockinette stitch. The excitement begins at the calf with a pretty colorwork chart.

Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL) to yield a sock with an actual arch circumference of 5” (6”, 7”, 8”, 9”)/12.5 (15, 18, 20.5, 23) cm. Note that the majority of people prefer socks with about 1”/2.5 cm of negative ease at the foot. Choose your size according to your preference.

Yarn: 400 (450, 525, 625, 750) yards/375 (425, 475, 575, 700) meters of sock weight yarn total; roughly 2% in each contrast color (5 contrasts total). If desired, the contrast yarn can be a single color in roughly 10% of the total yardage.

Sample shown in The Wicked Knittah BFL colorway Wheat (main yarn) and Peach 5 Mini Skeins (contrast set).

Needles: Size US 2/2.75 mm circular needles and US 1/2.25 mm circular needles with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller.

Gauge: 28 – 30 stitches and 34 – 36 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.

Notions: 1 locking stitch marker, 4 - 6 standard markers, tapestry needle, tape measure, and sock blockers (optional).

Techniques: Judy’s magic cast on, knitting in the round, wrap & turn (short rows), and fair isle knitting (from a chart).
