Pattern

If you have ever been on the RiverKnits website or seen them at a yarn show, you will have seen their rainbow wall of mini skeins. A blast of colour, full of possibilities no matter your shade preference.

Scottish Rainbow Blanket has been designed with my love of Scotland and it’s natural colours in mind.

The blanket is made using the intarsia knitting method and it’s all done in garter stitch to make a squidgy, warm blanket. Easy row repeats make it a great first intarsia crochet project.

The blanket is a mirror image, initially working through 12 contrasting colours, and then reversing these colours from the centre out.

Materials:
RiverKnits Nene 4ply, 100g/400m/437yds, 100% British Bluefaced Leicester. 3 x 100g of MC and 12 x 20g mini-skeins in your chosen set of colours.

Pattern Main Colour - 3 x 100g shade Silbermond - about 260g/ 1040m used.

Pattern Contrast Colours - 1 x 20g of each - about 17g/ 68m used of both.

CC1 – Earth Violet CC2 – Earth Fuchsia CC3 - Earth Crimson CC4 – Jewel Crimson CC5 – Shadow Crimson CC6 – Shadow Fuchsia CC7 – Shadow Violet CC8 – Shadow Indigo
CC9 – Shadow Turquoise CC10 – Shadow Jade CC11 – Jewel Jade CC12 - Earth Jade

Notions:
3.5mm circular needles with 80cm cable
2 x place markers (different colours)
Tapestry needle
Blocking equipment

Tension/gauge:
22.5 sts and 50 rows over 10cm/4” (unblocked). 22 sts and 46 rows over 10cm/4” (blocked). It is important to get gauge. If you don’t, you risk running out of yarn in the final contrast colour rows of the blanket. Use MC for a tension/gauge swatch.

Blanket Dimensions:
Unblocked 98cm/38.5” wide x 104cm/41” high. Blocked 100cm/39.25” wide x 113cm/44.5” high.

Yarn Substitutes:
Any 4ply yarn of the same weight and blend. The blanket uses approximately 17g of each mini skein. If you use a different blend, your gauge may vary and it is possible that you will not have enough yarn to complete all of the rows.

Stitches used:
k - knit, k2tog - knit two together, sl1p - slip 1 stitch purlwise

Pattern format:
Scottish Rainbow Blanket is an six-page document. If you are purchasing a printed copy, it is A4 sized with large, clear text.
