The intention behind this shawl design was to use up some of my sock yarn scraps. Maybe you know the problem: You knit a pair of socks, and there is this small leftover which is too good to throw away. Over the years these scraps can pile up. Here is the solution.

In the unlikely case that you don’t have piles of scraps feel free to use any two colors of new yarn that you like.

Difficulty level: intermediate (top-down shawl construction, stripes, mosaic)

Yarn: fingering 4-ply sock yarn leftovers, as many as you can find. My shawl used 774m (847yds).

Needles: 4mm/US 6 circular needles

Notions: yarn needle

Gauge: 22 stitches/48 rows in stitch pattern = 10cm/4in. Gauge is not crucial.

Size: 155 x 55cm (62 x 22in). This is the size of my sample. The shawl can be worked to any size.
