Scrapknit NO5 Scrunchies
There will be leftovers no matter what project you finish, and this pattern is the 5th in a series that uses scrap yarn in a specific quality. In this pattern I have chosen to use scraps of DK yarn, fingering weight yarn held double or one strand fingering weight yarn held together with a lace weight yarn. The gauge is supposed to be 20–22 stitches per 10 cm. The pattern includes 8 different types of hair ties better known as scrunchies that can be knitted using various types of scrap yarn. These 8 versions are included to inspire to a varied range of scrap knitting projects that result in a practical accessory. I chose to make all but one of the versions using the same method, as it is very easy to insert the elastic when knitting upwards from a cast on edge and then close it. You simply wrap the tie around the work and join the edges together, enclosing the hair tie inside the finished scrunchie.
