The Scrappy Scribble Sweater emboldens you to channel your inner child and scribble outside the lines! Play with color, play with fiber, play with different yarn weights, play with your stash & scraps! This oversized raglan sweater is worked from the top down, using a single worsted weight yarn as the base and then creating playful marled, rainbow stripes by holding different yarns together and switching/swapping as you go. Creativity is fun and important!!!! Perfectionism begone!!!!!!

Needles & Notions:
Size US 8 / 5mm circular needles* & DPNs (for body & sleeves)
Regular stitch markers (8), a unique BOR marker, a tapestry needle, stitch holders/scrap yarn
* cable length will vary based on size

XS(S, M, L, XL) (XXL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
Finished Chest Measurement:
35(38, 42, 46, 50) (54, 58, 62, 66) inches;
89(96.5, 106.75, 116.75, 127) (137.25, 147.25, 157.5, 167.75) cm

This garment is meant to be worn with 4-6” positive ease. I am pictured wearing the garment with 6” positive ease.

Gauge:
16 stitches and 26 rows/4” on a US 8 / 5mm, in stockinette stitch in the round, blocked.

Yarn:
The Scrappy Scribble Sweater uses the same worsted weight yarn for Color A throughout the sweater (I used Noro Malvinas in the color Ivory), but uses scraps and stash yarn of all weights and fiber contents held together to make a “worsted” weight yarn for Color B.
Note: The pattern will not tell you when to change colors for the stripes, but do so as much or as little as you like!

Color A:
Noro Malvinas
Aran/Worsted Weight
100% Wool
Color: Ivory

Color B:
Scraps and stash yarn of different weights and fibers! Sometimes multiple strands held together! This yarn can be anything you want it to be, but aran/worsted weight yarns and thinner will work best.

Possible Combinations:

• 1 strand of worsted or aran weight
• 2 strands of DK weight
• 3-4 strands of fingering/sock weight
• 1 strand of DK with 3 strands of lace weight.
• 1 strand of DK with 1-2 strands of fingering/sock weight

As you can see, it is really about playing. There is no perfect recipe. As you go you will start to get a sense as to what combinations work best for you and your tension. If you prefer a lighter fabric you can always hold less strands together. I used a bulky yarn a couple of times in my sweater and also did a stripe with only one strand of mohair for fun!

Yardage:
Color A: 606(672, 738, 795, 840) (909, 960, 1035, 1104) yards, held single
Color B: 404(448, 492, 530, 560) (606, 640, 690, 736) yards, held single
Total Yardage: 1010(1120, 1230, 1325, 1400) (1515, 1600, 1725, 1840) yards, held single
These yardage amounts are an estimate for holding a single strand of worsted weight yarn throughout and assume you will be working about 60% of the sweater in Color A and 40% of the sweater in Color B. Use these numbers as your guide, but remember that since Color B is created from scraps, stash and random yarns, you don’t have to worry about dye-lots or running out of yarn. You can add random new skeins in at any point and supplement with larger Color B stripes if you start running out of Color A.
