Scrappy Stripes is a large rectangular scarf worked diagonally from corner to corner. It is a fantastic project for using up yarn scraps. In my sample, I used more than one little ball that weighed about 6 grams! Instructions are included for transitioning between yarns.

You will need a total of around 250 grams of yarn for this project, separated into a “main color” pile of about 180 - 200 grams (any number of main colors will do) and a “contrast color” pile of about 50 - 70 grams (any number of contrast colors will do). The number of transitions between colors will determine the amount in each pile: more transitions in the main color pile will mean more yarn in that pile!

Gauge is not relevant for this project - choose a needle size that makes a fabric you like! With US5(3.75mm) needles and fingering weight yarn, you should get a light, squishy fabric. If you’d like a more dense fabric, choose smaller needles.

Techniques involved:
~Slip stitches for mosaic knitting
~Basic increases and decreases for knitting on the bias (diagonal).
