Let me show you how to take a big pile of ugly or old scrap yarn and make these super fun, 12-inch crochet jellyfish paper lanterns.

Intermediate to beginner level pattern. This might be a beginner crochet tutorial if the crocheter is familiar with working in the round and holding a few strands of yarn at once.

US Crochet Terms.

My example measures approximately 12” x 42”

You can use any colors and make fun, unique lanterns to use as home decor or give as gifts. You can also not use any lights at all and they are still perfectly fun! A great addition to any room of the house.

Materials:

Any type of yarn can be used for this project. My examples use #2-#4 size yarn in assorted brands. I give a lot of details in my pattern on how to choose the proper yarn and hooks to make this project.

There is no yardage listed for this pattern as it is a scrap yarn project and I have pulled dozens of variegated scrap yarn balls and partially used skeins to make these fun lanterns. I can tell you that one skein of never used yarn was 244yds and I used the entire skein and needed more so you will need more than twice that per jellyfish since I hold two strands at once in this pattern.
