The pattern is for five simple, beginner friendly makeup remover pads in 100% cotton, with both written instructions and knitting charts. (The second part of the pattern is also available now.)
The pads have several advantages over the usual, single use, store bought ones. For one, they are a lot prettier. Just because they are small and practical, they don’t have to be homely or boring. They are better for the environment as they can be washed and reused a number of times, and of course they don’t come in plastic packaging. With their gentle bumps and ridges they can also be more effective.

And for us knitters they offer an additional benefit: practice! Whether you’d like to learn some classic stitch patterns, practice Continental or mirror knitting, Norwegian purling, these little squares are just the thing for you!

All five patterns yield a square of approximately 6x6cm as long as you can get the gauge, which provides a firm, fairly tight fabric, ideal for the purpose.

Required techniques/skills:

  • Basic knitting, knit and purl stitches
  • Slipped stitches (with yarn forward or in the back)

Yarn (can be substituted with any similar weight cotton yarn):
Drops Paris (colours 02, 59, 20, 10), and Drops Love You 8, colour 14
5 g/7.5 m per square

Needles: 3 mm, 5 mm (with linen stitch)

Gauge: 22 sts/30 rs in stockinette
