This versatile crochet shawl pattern is designed to show off the beautiful colours in a unique skein of hand-dyed sock yarn. One 100g (between 366m and 425m) skein of 4ply/3ply/fingering/sock weight yarn is all you need to make this lovely asymmetrical shawl. Because the pattern begins with a couple of stitches and gradually increases, you can just keep crocheting until you have used your whole skein of special hand-dyed yarn.

The mesh design makes your yarn go further and forms a light and airy material to cover your shoulders on a warm evening or wrap around your neck to keep warm in cooler weather. Teeth/steps with little picot points along one edge form as the shawl grows.

Gauge/tension is not particularly important for this pattern so you can use any yarn you like and a hook size that gives you a drape and feel that you’re happy with. Blocking will make your shawl grow a bit, eliminate any tendency for the edges to roll and make it drape more softly.

This shawl pattern is in clear written form and includes a crochet chart.

I think this pattern would be enjoyable for any crocheter who is looking for a relaxing project and enjoys the satisfaction of transforming a fabulous hand-dyed skein of sock yarn into a gorgeous accessory.

Finished size: 52”/132cm wide, 14”/36cm at its deepest point.
