I recently saw a wool sweater with a rolled collar and I wanted to explore this style a bit. Usually, we do not want the rolling that happens in stockinette, but I wanted to intentionally play with this effect in this design. This cowl plays with the rolling hem due to stockinette in the round pulling to the front (right side) of the cowl. The garter stitch gives the cowl stretch to easily loop around the neck and offers stability for the stockinette section. The bobbles were added to offer some texture difference in the stockinette. Short rows are used to expand the rolling hem/bobble section without widening the garter section.

Seabold is cast on in the round with a set number of stitches that make up the circumference of the cowl. It is then worked with a mix of garter stitch, stockinette stitch, and bobbles to keep the cowl interesting and offer different textures to please the hands while knitting, and the neck while wearing. The garter stitch in the round allows the cowl to easily stretch around the neck twice. The stockinette offers a great backdrop for the bobbles and rolling hem detail. The short rows give the bobble section more depth and neck coverage to give the best warmth and coziness. A strand of mohair is held double with the main yarn throughout to create even more texture and cozy warmth.
