Seabrook, Washington, is a charming little vacation town on the coast. They have the perfect sand for castle building, strong winds for kite flying, and lovely cottages with amazing views of the water.

This shawl reminds me of the summer nights we spent there with lace motifs mirroring the waves crashing in at high tide, and the sections of garter and stockinette emulating the soft sandy beach.

Knit in a light weight gradient yarn, this shawl is a great summer accessory. Its an enjoyable, easy knit, especially suited for long car rides. You can also knit the shawl in a single color, or knit with one color for the lace sections and a second color for the garter and stockinette sections.

Many thanks to Barbara Walker for use of her “Triple Chevron” lace pattern from A Treasury of Knitting Patterns.
