Seal
Also known as Sael
The seal is knitted in the round on DPN’s.
Start with the hind-flippers, which are knitted separately and put on DPN’s, after which the seal’s body is knitted in the round on DPN’s and finished at the snout.
The front flippers are knitted separately and sewn onto the seal. Eyes are embroidered.

Size:
5cm high and 12cm long.
1 seal without filling weighs approximately 5 gram.

Yarn:
Spindrift, 100% Pure Shetland Wool from Jamieson’s of Shetland.
Yardage: 25g = 105m (115yd)

25g shade 105 Eesit.
25g shade 114 Mooskit/White.
25g shade 103 Sholmit.
25g shade 122 Granite.
25g shade 320 Steel.

For eyes and snout:
1 bundle shade 999 Black.
1 bundle shade 104 Natural White.

Needles:
Double pointed needles (DPNs) 2.0mm(US 0). For flippers.
Double pointed needles (DPNs) 2.5mm(US 1.5). For body.

Tension:
Stocking stitch: 10x10cm = 29st and 45 rows on 2.5mm (US 1.5).

Other materials:
Filling for the seal: Waste yarn or fiber filling.
For the whiskers: fishing line or sewing thread.

Sæl
Sælen strikkes rundt på strømpepinde.
Starter ved baglufferne, som strikkes for sig og sættes på
strømpepinde, hvorefter sælens krop strikkes rundt
på strømpepinde, der er vendepinde undervejs og afsluttes ved snuden.
Forluffer strikkes for sig og monteres efterfølgende
på sælen.
Øjne broderes på.

5cm høj og 12cm lang.
1 sæl uden fyld vejer ca. 5 gram.
