During one of my first visits to New York many years ago, I watched fishmongers unload crates of fish at the South Street Seaport very early in the morning. The swirling cabled in this skirt remind me of the overlapping tails in those crates and the vibrant activity of the workers on the dock. The stitch pattern makes the skirt hug in all the right places (and forgive in all others), resulting in a fit that is flattering and comfortable.

One 36’’ (90 cm) or longer circular (circ) needle size US 8 (5mm), or size needed to get the required gauge..
