The Seashore Jacket is half of a summer twinset. Knit and wear it on its own or with the Seashore Cami. Either way, you’ll enjoy long walks in nature, on the beach, or otherwise. Breezy diamond eyelet panes decorate this delicate jacket.

A tailored and classic set-in sleeve makes this an elevated piece with clean finishing. This piece has optional button holes in the neat double knit button band, and will fit into any summer wardrobe.

Layer the Seashore Jacket with any favorite cami (like the coordinating Seashore Cami), or wear the buttoned version on its own for a cute summer top.

This pattern is intended to have 0-5” / 0-12.5 cm of positive ease on the full bust.

Choose a fingering weight yarn. This pattern is flexible to any amount of included wool or cellulose/plant fibers.

White sample features Aimee Sher Makes’ in house Comfort Silk Linen (400 yards / 365 meters / 3.5 oz / 100 grams, 50% Merino + 25% Mulberry Silk + 25% Linen) in the colorway “Milk Tea.”

Pink sample features Knitting For Olive’s Pure Silk (273 yards / 250 meters / 1.75 oz / 50 grams, 100% Bourette Silk) in the colorway “Rhubarb Juice.”

Yardage

Twin set yardage

To knit the entire twin set, you’ll need 4 (5, 5, 5) (6, 6, 7) (7, 8, 8) hanks of Comfort Silk Linen plus extra for bust darts for both, if using bust darts.

Needles

A (Main Fabric): US2.5 / 3.0 mm in a long circular, 32” / 80 cm or longer, to match body circumference being worked, and DPNs.

B (Ribbing): US1 / 2.5 mm in a long circular, 32” / 80 cm or longer, to match body circumference being worked.

Depending on your personal cast on tension, you may need a smaller needle than Needle B to cast on for Long Tail Tubular Cast On.

Notions

Stitch markers, smooth waste yarn, tapestry needle. Optional: 6 (6, 6, 6) (7, 7, 7) (7, 7, 7) buttons with about 1/2” / 15 mm diameter, plus 1 for every 2” / 5 cm of bust darts worked.

Construction Notes

  • This pattern is written with the sleeves knit first, so that you may block them and use them as a second and third swatch to ensure gauge. Then, the body is worked, bottom up, in one piece, split for front and back, and then the front pieces and back piece are completed separately. Finally, the whole garment is seamed together, and the neckband and button band are worked.

  • Optional bust darts come in 4 sizes to add 1-5” / 2.5-12.5 cm vertically. Due to the stitch pattern repeat, these do not come in the regular 1” / 2.5 cm increments of other Aimee Sher patterns, so select your size carefully.
