I designed this blanket for knitting with Rowan Cotton Glace, a 100% cotton yarn which is ideal for babies and children because it doesn’t irritate, has a wide colour palette and washes well.

The pattern is written as colour charts and written instructions. There are 10 “picture” squares numbered 1 to 10 reflecting a seaside theme and 10 one shade squares in textured knitting (5 designs x 2). They are knitted in strips then sewn together vertically. The edging is sewn on last.

The instructions are for one size only 60cm x 75cm. The yarn amounts are for the blankets as they appear in the photos. Some of the shades have since been discontinued but similar shades are available in this yarn.

Materials: Blue edging: 3 x 50g 749 Sky; 3 x 50g 726 Bleached; 2 x 50g 827 Chalk; 1 x 50g Oyster; small amounts of 727 Black; 741 Poppy; 834 Whey; 845 Shell; 832 Persimmon; 814 Shoot.

White edging: 5 x 50g 726 Bleached; 2 x 50g 827 Chalk; 1 x 50g 749 Sky; 1 x 50g 730 Oyster; small amounts of 831n Dawn Grey; 741 Poppy; 724 Bubbles; 834 Whey; 845 Shell; 814 Shoot.
