Perfect for the transition between summer to fall and eventually winter, this hat is lightweight and cool for warmer days, but also warm enough to keep you comfy on those cool days.

The pattern uses 2 different colors of yarn, one main color (MC) and one contrasting color (C1). You can easily introduce a new color as well alternate the rows of puff stitches with two, three, or even more colors as you like.

Two sizes are available, an adult and a child size hat- the adult size fits an average 22” head size while the child size fits a 20” size head.

Total yardage for the two different yarns, Child (Adult)

  • Main Color (MC): ~60-75 yds (~100-110 yds)
  • Contrasting Color (C1): ~35-50 yds (~85-95 yards)

Gauge:

  • Main Hat Pattern: 2” = 7.5 St and 4.5 Rows
  • Hat Brim: 2” = 8 St and 8 Rows

This pattern includes information on how to perform various stitch techniques needed for this hat. This includes information on how to create puff stitches, working through the “third loop” to create the ridge look between rows of double crochet, as well as the HDC and SC through the third stitch. A quick magic ring tutorial is also included.
