This pattern for fingerless gloves is designed to be beginner friendly, is no-sew, and is knit in the round. It uses ~115 yards of worsted weight yarn and size US 5 double-pointed needles. The spiral design makes the gloves stretchy and suitable to fit most adult hands. The variation in stitch is a great way to show off the yarn you’re using.

This is my first pattern design and I’m so excited to see what you create with it!

Materials:

  • ~115 yards of DK/worsted weight yarn
  • Size US 5 (3.75mm) DPNs (circular needles may be substituted)
  • A short piece of waste yarn
  • Stitch markers x3

Note: substitutions on needle size and yarn weight may be made so long as gauge is preserved.

Skills Used:

  • Knitting in the round
  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Increase via the kfb stitch (knit in the front and back of the same stitch)

Narrative Pattern Overview:
This glove is knit in the round from the bottom up on double-pointed needles. It begins with knitting a 2x2 ribbed edge, then a spiral pattern with alternating spirals of knit stitching and seed stitching, and finally another edge of 2x2 ribbing. After the main part of the glove is knit, return to the stitches set aside for the thumb and work the thumb sleeve in knit stitch followed by more 2x2 ribbing. The second glove is knit up the same as the first.

Sizing and Modifications:
The stretchy design of the glove means that it should fit most adult hands. Based on the experience of my test knitters, you may wish to adjust the cuff length or thumb cuff length to better fit your hand, which can be done by increasing or decreasing the number of rows of the 2x2 ribbing. Additional notes on these potential modifications can be found within the pattern.

Lastly, I want to give a huge shoutout to my test knitters whose feedback improved the clarity of this pattern- thank you all!
