The Secret Garden Pullover combines three construction techniques for a flattering, comfortable fit: the back yoke is shaped flat with stitches cast on at the end of each row, adding length and width to the back. The stitches are then joined in the round and increases are worked before and during the colourwork. After the colourwork chart, the yoke is finished with compound raglan increases, first across the body and sleeves together, then on the body only, for a relaxed body width without oversized sleeves.

The body and sleeves are worked in the round in stockinette. The hem is worked in two pieces (front and back) in 2x1 ribbing, to create a split. A high funnel neck in the same ribbing finishes the pullover.

Skill level: intermediate. You’ll need to be comfortable with three stranded colorwork, raglan construction, picking up stitches, and reading a chart.

Techniques: long-tail cast-on, knitting flat and in the round, 3 stranded colorwork with long floats, raglan increases (M1R/M1L)

Gauge: 21 sts and 30 rows in 10×10 cm/4×4 in, worked in St st in the round, after blocking on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles

Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4) and 3 mm (US 2.5) circular needles, ideally 100-120 cm/40-47 in cable for the yoke. DPNs or short circulars for sleeves and neckband.

The pullover is designed to have 10-15 cm of positive ease. Choose a size which is 10-15 cm bigger than your actual bust size.
