Linen is beautiful, but it does tend to grow a bit lengthwise when worn. An easy solution to this problem is to choose a size with some negative ease, 1” to 2” (2.5-5 cm) less than your bust measurement should do the trick. When the garment is stretched widthwise, it doesn’t have as much extra to give in the length department.

The lace panel is worked separately and sewn into the lower back opening during finishing.

The stitch count of the Lace Border chart does not remain constant throughout. It begins with 10 stitches, increases to 13 stitches after completing Row 1, then decreases back to 10 stitches after completing Row 12.

For Row 2 of the Lace Border chart, work the first 3 stitches as yo, p2tog, k1, then work k1, p1 twice into the large loop formed by the quadruple yarnover Row 1, and work the rest of the row as shown on the chart.

For Row 12 for the Lace Border chart, bind off the first 3 stitches, then return the stitch on the right needle after the last bind-off to the left needle, and work the rest of the row as yo, p2tog, k5, p1, k2 as shown on the chart.
