This slight variation of the Ladder Stitch isolates the slip stitch motif against a background of purl stitches, creating a delicate stairwell of stitches running down the sides of the sock, from leg to foot. This stitch motif works best on socks with a gauge of 5 to 8 stitches per inch.

Each sock pattern in Knit 2 Socks in 1 uses The Everyday Sock pattern for all of the measurements and stitch counts in a choose-your-own-adventure-style pattern.

The sample sock featured in the book has the following stats:

  • Yarn: Caron Cotton Cakes, 60% cotton/40% acrylic, 530 yards (250 g), 1 skein in Rich Mint
  • Needle Size: US 5 (3.75 mm)
  • Gauge: 5 sts = 1” in stockinette
  • Size Shown: X-small
  • Cuff: Standard length, 1x1 ribbing
  • Leg: Standard length
