While playing with my newborn daughter the last thing that I thought would happen would be an idea for a cardigan – especially seeing as how it was summer! However that is precisely what happened. Seeing as how she was growing like a weed and it incorporated some seed stitch thus ‘seedling’ was born.

Seedling is a DK weight side fastening cardigan ideal for babies through to 4 year old. A great way to display some of your button collections as well! There is approximately 2 to 2 ½ inches of ease. This cardigan was designed to be messed with, stripe it, add lace or cables, make it short sleeved – so much possibility!

I have worked and tested with hand dyed yarn from Casey at Let Them Knit ( letthemknit.com ) My testers used both the merino and the 100% wool. Casey is very talented at both semi solid colourways, as well as some pretty special gradients. She is also available for custom orders on a regular basis.

With a 211m/100gm DK weight yarn you will be able to create the 15” with one skein, and the 16”- 21” with 2 skeins (there may be slight yardage chicken on the 21”) and the 22”and the 23” will be possible with 3 skeins.
