Please note that this pattern includes instructions for a Hat, Mittens and two versions of a scarf.

I create a hat, scarf, and mittens set for myself for each winter, and am led by my need for warm mittens that can be very wearable while I am using a walking stick or operating the controller of the wheelchair. Therefore, I look for mittens with a raised textured pattern on the back of the hand for extra warmth and a flat palm for ease of movement and use. I also focus on matching sets, as I know I won’t grab for a pair of mitts if I don’t also have a hat and scarf to wear with them.

I was drawn to the seersucker stitch used here and created a hat and mittens in the stitch, which added interest and warmth. For the scarf, I wanted to emphasise the perpendicular lines of the stitch pattern, so I created an optional peaked triangular start to the infinity scarf. The hat is styled as a slightly slouchy beanie 9” high. For a closer fitting or more slouchy look, one pattern repeat can be omitted or added in. The hat and mittens can be worked in three sizes. The sample hat is a size M, while the sample mittens are a size S.
