A simple, textural, reversible scarf, knit on the bias for added interest. Worked in stripes, color blocks, or a gradient, this pattern is the perfect project for minis, scraps, or partials.

The sample was worked in an assortment of fingering- and sport-weight minis from The Plucky Knitter, Phydeaux Designs, and The Verdant Gryphon, using an earthy gradient of colors from brown to yellow to green (“Color 1”) alternating with stripes in gray (“Color 2”). The design works just as well in a single set of gradients, or a long-color change yarn like Knit Picks Chroma fingering or Noro Silk Garden Sock, or contrasting stripes, or whatever else suits your fancy.

NOTES:
Several things that should have been clearer in the pattern:

1. When you reach the desired length, bind off. I forgot to include that step.
2. The sample shown is worked in alternating two-row stripes--the two “Color A” rows in Color A, then the two “Color B” rows in Color B. However, you can certainly configure your colors however you like, stripes or otherwise.
3. To make it wider, just cast on more stitches. However, because it’s knit on the bias (diagonal), the number of stitches you cast on will determine the diagonal measurement. On my sample, the width was 60% of the diagonal. So I cast on 15” worth of stitches (for my gauge, 60 +/- 1 stitch to get an odd number), and the horizontal width was 60% of 15”, which equals 9”. You may have a slight variation in that ratio, but 60% is a good working number because of the geometry created by the bias.
