The idea behind these socks is applying the look of a classic Selbu mitten into a sock construction. So, the back of the mitten hand goes along the leg and instep of the sock, whereas the palm pattern goes under the foot, the rib for the cuff, and the stripy thumb gusset for the sock gusset. And just like classic Selbu mittens, these socks have columns along each side with a lice pattern spine.

I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help or have any suggestions, this topic in my Ravelry group is the best place for support. Happy knitting!

Yarn
Tukuwool Sock (80% non-superwash wool, 20% nylon, 160 m / 175 yds, 50 g). 2 x 50g cc, 1 x 50g mc.

This yarn is rather thick for the recommended gauges, so you might be happer with a more typical fingering weight sock yarn like Opal Uni Solid 4ply, West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply or Regia 4ply with around 25% nylon with about 200 m / 219 per 50 g.
For finer non-superwash yarn with nylon I can recoomend Ovis et Cetera’s sock yarn.

Needles
Gauge-size needles for stockinette and stranded colourwork, either long circulars for magic loop, 9” circulars or DPNs.

The sample was made using 2.5 mm (US 1 1/2) for stockinette and 2.75 mm (US 2) for stranded colourwork.

Gauge
(35, 34, 33, 32) sts = 10 cm / 4” in stranded colourwork and stockinette stitch.

Sizes in women’s shoe sizes
UK: (4, 5, 6, 7)
US: (6, 7, 8, 9)
Euro: (36-37, 37-38, 38-39, 39-40)
The sample is knit in the 4th size and worn with zero ease.

Sock circumference: (20.6, 21.2, 21.8, 22.5 cm / (8.1, 8.3, 8.6, 8.9)”
Different sizes are achieved with different gauges by using bigger needles for bigger sizes and smaller needles for smaller sizes.
