Selburose hat
Selburose hat, featuring the traditional eight-pointed star that gave the Norwegian Selbu tradition its name — the pattern that started it all. Part of my Selbu collection alongside owl, moose, squirrel, hare, bear and snowflake designs.
The beanie is worked in the round on circular or double-pointed needles from the bottom up.
SIZES: Adult (56–62 cm / 22”–24”) circumference, Kid (50–54 cm / 20”–21”).
YARN: Any aran weight yarn. I used DROPS Nepal yarn:
50 g / 82 yd in bordeaux colour (8916),
30 g / 49 yd in chalk colour (8915) for adult’s size.
GAUGE: 10 cm × 10 cm / 4” × 4” = 17 sts × 22 rows in stockinette stitch.
NEEDLES: Circular or double pointed needles 4.5 mm / US 7.
ATTENTION Everyone knits a little differently—some more loosely, some more tightly. Please check that your gauge matches the
recommended gauge for the chosen yarn, and adjust your needle size if needed. If you prefer a slightly smaller or larger hat, try using
needles half a size or one full size smaller or larger. Most yarns work well across a needle size range of about 1.5–2 mm.
