There is definitely a direct connection between well-being and self-acceptance. It feels good to practice it for sure. If you want, while knitting this shawl, you can focus on self-acceptance: once you hear your inner critic, say to it that whatever you did, was the best thing you could do in that situation. Savour this state of acceptance, “knit it into” the fabric of the shawl, so the shawl can later serve as a reminder to seek for unconditional satisfaction and happiness with yourself. Without guilt and self-blame it is easier to see what you could do differently about that situation, or under similar circumstances next time.

The shawl is worked sideways in one piece. Knitting starts with just a few stitches, and smartly placed increases and decreases give the shawl an asymmetric curved triangle shape. The size of the shawl can be easily customized as it can be bound off on every eighth row. It will look good worked in yarn of any weight.

Self-Acceptance is the second pattern from the Moment Catchers e-book. The e-book includes six shawl patterns in total, all designed to catch the most precious experiences.

I really love the round silk yarn that I used for this shawl, you can find the Mulberry silk by DyeForYarn here in many gorgeous colours.

I asked test knitters what they would like to tell about the pattern and the finished cowl to other knitters and here are some of their answers:

jurga Very clear pattern. Quite simple, but absolutely not boring knitting.

Kbhallman This is a meditative knit with a fabulous texture. It’s pretty easy to read your knitting on this one, so it is good for tv or group knitting.

infusionn Great pattern, very easy to knit and the result is very rewarding.

Guntajar The pattern is very easy to follow and knit up nicely. It’s very easy to modify the size of the shawl. And the result is stunning!

bufknitter Easily customizable to make as small or large as you want with additional repeats or by choosing different weights of yarn, this beautiful shawl combined garter stitch and an interesting pattern to make for an easy, while still engaging knit.
