I had been holding on to this skein of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Plushy in “Don’t Rain on My Craft Parade” for about a year. It was just one of those skeins that was almost too pretty to tap, and there was just an awesome amount of yardage! I wanted a simple pattern to showcase the variegated yarn. I took inspiration from my love of mathematics and decided to do a ribbing pattern at the bottom and top of the cowl based on part of the Fibonacci Sequence. Each number in the Fibonacci sequence is found by adding the previous two numbers in the sequence together. You will see the sequence starting with 0 or 1. Following this rule you get:
0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, ….
This cowl is knit in the round starting with k1, p1 ribbing. The ribbing will terminate using row counts that follow this sequence. The middle of the cowl is done in stockinette, then the ribbing will be reintroduced following this sequence. Once bound off, the finished product is flipped inside out!

MATERIALS:

  • Blue Moon Fiber Arts Plushy, 100% superwash 20.5 micron Merino (330yds/301m, 9.5oz/270g) or any yarn that achieves gauge (Pictured cowl used 214g or about 262yds)

  • US 9 (5.5 mm) 20” circular needles

  • Stitch markers

  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
